At Gammel Holtegaard we have invited the author, dramatist, art critic and art historian Ida Marie Hede and artist and choreographer Miriam Kongstad to interpret the story of two sisters – Ebba and Aase Breda and the collection of Ebba Breda’s works that has formed the basis for Gammel Holtegaard’s existence since 1993. Hede and Kongstad collaborate on a conceptual framework in which Hede’s focus is prose and drama, and Kongstad’s visual and spatial. Hede and Kongstad share an artistic interest in decoding, exposing and dismantling social and cultural structures with a focus on gender, the body and society. Queer and female lives are intertwined with fundamental existential questions that lay bare power structures, economics conditions, the health industry and socio-political systems.
